The 10 Best Brunch Spots in Reims

When it comes to good brunch in Reims, this French city has plenty of delicious options to start your day the right way. Whether you prefer traditional French fare or international influences, here are some top recommendations for weekend brunch.

1. Café du Palais

My family and I had a very enjoyable lunch experience at Cafe du Palais. The restaurant has a traditional French interior that transports you back in time. However, the first thing you really notice is the extremely friendly and welcoming staff.

Our server was excellent – he was personable, and attentive and ensured we had everything we needed for a pleasant meal. He was even brilliant with our dog, giving her extra attention and making her feel comfortable.

For our starters, I ordered the Tagliatelle with snails which had rich, flavorful snail sauce tossed with the pasta. It was a perfect balance of tastes. My partner chose the salmon tartare as the daily special – the fresh salmon was perfectly prepared and flavorful. Both dishes were well done.

The dessert we selected, Ile Flottante, was a true work of art. The sommelier created it fresh to order, with layers of flavors and textures. It was as delicious as it was beautiful. The pastry chef’s skill really shone through.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Cafe du Palais. The historic setting, friendly service, and quality dishes make it the best restaurant in town. The food more than lived up to the establishment’s reputation. I would certainly return and recommend stopping here for anyone visiting the area. It’s clear why Cafe du Palais has been such a staple for so many years.

2. Café du Palais

My friend and I decided to stop for a late lunch at Cafe du Palais while in Reims for the day. We found it to be a pleasant brasserie-style restaurant that was still serving, which was much appreciated since many places seem to have early last seatings for lunch around here.

The food we received was tasty – classic French brasserie fare prepared well. However, the portion sizes were really quite large. Both of us struggled to finish everything on our plates and ended up having to leave behind quite a bit of uneaten food, which felt wasteful. In the future, I think they could consider downsizing some dishes so customers don’t feel overly full.

Service was adequate but a bit slow at times, which I assume was due to the shift changeover between lunch and dinner services. Our server was pleasant when checking on us but it took a while to get the bill at the end. Nothing too problematic, just not remarkably good service.

Overall, Cafe du Palais was a satisfactory lunch option since we needed something central and still serving a late meal. But there wasn’t really anything exceptional or memorable about the experience that would make me desperate to return or recommend it particularly. The food was nice but quite large portions, and the service was average. It was a pleasant meal but lacked a certain je ne sais quoi to make it truly excellent. For travelers just looking for convenient brasserie food, it fits the bill, but discerning locals may find better options.

3. L’Epicerie Au Bon Manger

My partner and I stumbled upon the most lovely gem of a restaurant on our recent trip – Au Bon Manger. From the moment we walked in, we could tell we were in for a very special dining experience.

The staff was incredibly attentive, taking the time to ensure we understood every detail about the menu items and their sources. It was refreshing to engage with servers so clearly passionate about the produce, proteins, and purveyors behind each dish. They tailored recommendations beautifully to our tastes.

Everything we sampled was exquisite. You could taste the care that goes into selecting only the finest, freshest local and seasonal ingredients. The flavors were bright and complex. It was truly like eating a taste of the picturesque countryside surrounding this charming establishment.

The atmosphere was inviting and relaxed. We felt like we were dining in someone’s backyard garden rather than a restaurant. Yet the food and service rivaled any high-end spot.

Au Bon Manger was undoubtedly a highlight of our trip. The staff truly cares about sharing their love of the land with diners through intimate, memorable meals. I cannot recommend it highly enough for any discerning food lover visiting the region. We will certainly be back to explore more of what this gem has to offer.

My family and I decided to try L’Apostrophe for our Easter Sunday lunch, and we are so glad we did. From start to finish, we enjoyed an excellent mealtime experience.

The service was wonderful – our server was very attentive without being overbearing. They made recommendations tailored to our group’s tastes and kept our drinks topped up so we felt well taken care of.

More importantly, the food really delivered. Everything we ordered was delicious. The menu offered some family-friendly classics done exceptionally well. I have no doubt they put just as much care into their holiday prix fixe menu as they do their regular offerings.

The atmosphere was pleasant too – warm and convivial like being around good company. We felt relaxed and had plenty of room to enjoy our time together.

L’Apostrophe really shone as a great spot to celebrate special occasions like Easter with family. We will definitely be returning for future holidays or relaxed Sunday meals. I would not hesitate to recommend it to others looking for an enjoyable family dining experience. The consistently great service and food make it a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

We came to Le Bureau des Lecteurs twice during our stay in Reims and it was easily our best meal here both times. The menu offers a wide variety ranging from Poke bowls and Thai peanut curry to more traditional French dishes like escargots and steak frites. I had a huge Caesar salad one night that was delicious.

The wine list features some great local Gamay options at fair prices. The decor is fun – it’s set up like an old newspaper office. Service was ridiculously fast both times we dined.

Special shout out to our amazing waiter Davide R. – he provided charming, attentive service and even remembered details from our first visit when we returned. When he realized we didn’t speak much French, he was kind enough to point out the English menu options but let us practice our limited language skills.

The only downside is it can get a bit noisy later in the evening. I’d recommend stopping in early, like 7 pm, to avoid the crowds. Overall this is a fantastic choice for high quality, diverse cuisine in a lively atmosphere. The staff really make it a special experience too – pay that guy a bonus!

We stopped into The Chicken & Craft for a quick lunch without a reservation and luckily found a table. I ordered their signature chicken burger which was full of flavor – tender, juicy chicken with crisp lettuce and tomato.

My dining companion had the vegetarian burger, which used a handmade patty showing off fresh roasted veggies. Both sandwiches came with a side of steak-cut fries that were perfectly seasoned.

It was a pleasant, filling meal in a lively yet casual atmosphere. Even though they don’t take reservations, it seems to turn over tables quickly. I’d come back to try more of their crafty twists on sandwich classics. Great local lunch option.

I was passing by and the delicious-looking pastries in the windows of Maison Kugelmann called me in for a little morning break. I ordered a hot chocolate along with a freshly baked baguette, butter, and a seasonal marmalade all for 8,50€. It was the perfect pick-me-up and just what I had hoped for.

The desserts and macarons on display looked incredibly tempting as well. The staff I interacted with were very friendly and accommodating.

While the space is a bit narrow, it has a lovely cozy ambiance. They also have a restroom available, which is always appreciated. Overall this is a fantastic neighborhood bakery for pastry, sandwiches, or a café break. I’ll be back to try more of their offerings for sure.

I was pleasantly surprised by Le Bistrot des Tilleuls. The welcoming and smiling young server at the door set a nice tone. For only 21 euros, I received a daily special plate, a glass of wine, and coffee – all served to me on their charming private patio.

The quality to value ratio was excellent. Service was both prompt and professional. I highly recommend stopping in here for a simple but flavorful lunch or dinner. It’s a great neighborhood gem. The personal attention and reasonable prices make this a very reliable choice. I’ll be back to explore more of their menu soon.

I opted to enjoy my drink in the cozy covered outdoor seating area, which provided nice shelter from the light rain. It’s clear a lot of care and effort goes into their drinks and customer experience.

Whether you need a caffeine fix or just a sweet treat, Café Lita is a great local spot. I’ll be back to try more of their innovative drink menu and cozy up with another hot chocolate soon!
