I have found my new favorite restaurant – this place is truly a dream come true. From the moment you walk in, you can see that the service here is outstanding. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and clearly wanted to ensure we had a great dining experience.

Beyond the fantastic service, the food itself is delicious. Everything from the appetizers to the entrees is prepared with care and top-quality ingredients. I was especially impressed by how fresh and flavorful everything tasted. The homemade ketchup alone is worth a return visit – it’s that good!

While the food is excellent, I was also pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices. You won’t believe the nice sized portions you get for the price. But there is more – they have a very affordable and generous happy hour that is not to be missed. In fact, I would highly recommend arriving early to take advantage of the drink and appetizer specials.

As if wonderful service, tasty food, and good value weren’t enough, this spot is also dog friendly! They provide treats and water bowls for furry friends. It’s always nice to find a restaurant that welcomes pets.

Conveniently located in the heart of town, Place du Pilori has been a neighborhood staple for years earning a good reputation. With a menu catering to a range of tastes from kids to vegetarians, there’s truly something for everyone.

Our server was attentive and professional throughout our visit. Orders were taken promptly and the food arrived in a timely manner. As expected from such an established local gem, the service was efficient without feeling rushed.

While I enjoyed several dishes, the chicken cordon bleu stood out but was only let down by its lack of heat upon arrival. However, the flavors more than made up for the slight temperature misstep. The ingredients were clearly fresh and prepared with care.

Occupying such a central spot, Place du Pilori is certainly a reliable option for those in the area looking for a casual yet quality meal. With diverse menu offerings to meet the needs of various dietary preferences and palates, plus attentive staff, it’s no wonder they’ve maintained their good reputation for so long. As a regular at this restaurant, I’m always pleased by the thoughtful vegetarian options they feature that rotate regularly. With each visit, there is a new meatless entrée choice keeping the menu feel fresh and interesting for vegetarians like myself.

Beyond accommodating dietary preferences, this restaurant also delivers a friendly, efficient service. The staff clearly takes pride in ensuring customers feel welcomed and attended to in a timely manner.

On my most recent visit, the high standards of fresh, tasty food were upheld as well. Today’s vegetarian selection was delicious, showcasing the chef’s skill at crafting nourishing plant-based dishes.

What I appreciate most is that all of this – the varied menu, quality ingredients, and attentive service – comes at a very reasonable price point. It’s clear the focus is on value over unnecessary frills.

My dining companion and I thoroughly enjoyed not one but two fantastic dinner experiences at this restaurant. From start to finish, the service we received was excellent – our needs were attentively anticipated.

Every dish we ordered from the entrée selections was executed perfectly. On both visits, I opted for the carpaccio as my main which proves to be one of the smartest choices on the menu. Not only is it prepared with amazing care and flavor, but you’re invited to order as many portions with different accompanying sauces as you’d like. I may have over-indulged!

While the mains certainly wow, don’t neglect dessert either. The sweets and cheeseboard options are also standouts. Both are beautifully plated and pack intense yet balanced flavors.

Considering the level of quality provided from appetizers through desserts, it’s easy to understand why repeat dining experiences are hard to resist here. I highly recommend booking a table soon – you truly won’t regret making this restaurant your next culinary destination. Two visits in and I still want more carpaccio! Special kudos to the wonderful service team as well.

5. Monument Cafe Chateau d’Angers

After touring the intriguing Apocalypse tapestries at Angers Castle, my companion and I were in need of a light yet filling lunch. We followed signs pointing towards the Monument Café, which proved to be the perfect solution.

The cafe’s blackboard advertised a great deal – choosing from three main courses for just €10, with a complete “menu” of five small appetizer/dessert tastes to enjoy alongside for a total of only €16.50. It was incredibly good value.

The self-service process was simple yet clever. We selected our main, then collected five sample-sized glasses to graze on as our dish was prepared. After a short wait, our plates arrived steaming alongside a personal mini casserole pot.

While perhaps not haute cuisine, the food itself was surprisingly tasty given the very reasonable prices. Basic bistro fare prepared with care. The charming interior and passable English from the friendly waitstaff made for a pleasant dining experience too.

After a busy morning tour, the Monument Café provided precisely what we sought – a no-fuss, affordable lunch in a quaint setting. I’d happily return or recommend it to anyone in need of an undemanding but still quite good meal in this area. The value is undeniable.

While exploring the charming streets of Angers, I happened upon this fantastic little coffee shop – a rare find indeed in France. Ordering my drink in broken French, the barista greeted me with patience and kindness, switching to English upon learning my Australian origins.

She then revealed having spent significant time traveling and working in Australia, including in various coffee houses – the inspiration for starting her own specialist shop here. It warmed my heart to find this connection halfway across the world.

The beans are locally roasted on the premises and the style of preparation takes after the coffee culture of my homeland rather than big corporate chains. The result was a cup that far surpassed my expectations for French coffee.

In what can often feel like unfamiliar territory as a visitor, discovering friendly faces and a taste of home away from home made this a real high point of my trip. I’m glad Wanderlust brought the owner here and am grateful she now shares her passion and skills with the community. Between the top-notch brews and welcoming service, it’s evident much care goes into the operation. I’ll be sure to return next time in Angers!

No matter where you choose to dine, be sure to work up an appetite for exploring Angers’ charming streets, monuments, and picturesque waterfront afterward. Taking time to properly fuel up for the day with a leisurely brunch is the perfect way to experience the city on weekends.
